the best girl night in london

So last night was Lounge - a girl night at a members' bar called Teatro, on Shaftesbury Avenue. It's the best girl club night in London, and I can say that confidently, having been to precisely no others. But it merits the title nonetheless because it's just so straightforwardly *fun*.

We arrived on Shaftesbury to find a line of girls snaking all the way down to the Curzon Soho. Z is a member of Teatro so we jumped the line and went upstairs to a veritable mosh pit of girls.

Here are my five observations from the evening.

1. Black and white striped shirts. Very popular. Four girls wearing the same shirt.

2. What's with kissing more than one girl a night? A *lot* of that activity.

3. Girls with girlfriends - on their arm, on their lap - smiling at you anyway. All night. Over the shoulder of their girlfriend! You know who you are. And yeah, I smiled back. Very cute hat.

4. Hats! Always a girl with a silly hat. Last night it was a sea captain's hat. But she wound up kissing one of the black and white striped shirts! Mysterious.

5. It's nice when girls come up and tell you earnestly - respectfully even - that you're beautiful. Shy-making. But nice.

Hurrah for Lounge. It has the feel of a College bop. There are usually at least two cute girls there who you might. It's a really warm, positive atmosphere where people are nice to each other. A lot of unnecessary arse touching as people push past you to the bar. The music is a bit hip hop heavy. Nice touch to play the theme from "Sugar Rush". Very sharky. I went for the first time exactly a year ago with a straight friend who was terrified of the lesbians.

OK - rank list of girls.

1. Girl with big dark eyes and short dark hair - quite tall, all in black (a dress maybe?) with a bag with a green and red strap slung over her. Kissing an older woman. Booo.

2. Striped shirt kissing silly hat (see 4 above)

3. Writhing dancing girl with long black hair and stripy dress on. Flanked by two friends. Lots of dancing on the tables. Hmmm.

Do you recognise yourself? If so, write me an email and tell me some physical detail that will confirm that it is indeed you.

Go!
